EVOLENCE^®, a wholly new facial filler, has been launched at the 13th EADV Congress in Florence, Italy. EVOLENCE^® is a natural collagen product with an excellent safety profile that maintains its aesthetic corrective effects for a period of at least 12 months. It is an opaque gel comprising collagen at a concentration of 35 mg/ml, supplied in a 1 ml pre-filled syringe that can be stored at room temperature. EVOLENCE^® comprises a biological matrix of porcine collagen, programmed to mimic the function of human collagen in the body. The EVOLENCE^® difference lies in ColBar’s patented Glymatrix™ cross-linking technology that uses natural sugar cross-linking agents, similar to those used in the body. Furthermore, unlike with other collagen facial fillers on the market, a skin test is not a prerequisite for EVOLENCE^® treatment.

EVOLENCE^®, ColBar’s new, collagen-based, soft-tissue filler has received a CE Mark and will be shipped to dermatologists, plastic surgeons and other health professionals as of November through a network of distributors across Europe.

ColBar has completed a $10M financing round. Vitalife, the Israeli life sciences venture capital fund and Israel Healthcare Ventures, led the round and weer joined by previous investors Pitango venture Capital, Evergreen Partners, Genesis Partners, and Biomedical Investments.

Two clinical trials, one in Belgium and the other in Germany, were initiated to compare the efficacy and safety of EVOLENCE^® versus Hyaluronic acid for the correction of soft tissue contour deficiencies, with a follow up period of 12 months. ColBar expects to enroll about eighty patients in these trials by the end of year. It is expected that two additional sites will be initiated in Europe by the first quarter of 2005.

First phase of EVOLENCE^®'s clinical trials in Europe was completed as planned. Second phase to start during March 2004 in several sites throughout Western Europe. Trials are planned to further evaluate safety and efficacy of the product in comparison to other available injectable fillers in the market.

Dermicol, Colbar's second product for the correction of contour deficiencies of soft tissue (wrinkle augmentation), entered clinical trials in Europe in Jan 2002. The product is undergoing both safety and efficacy endpoints compared to other available collagen based products.
