OSSIX^® PLUS

OSSIX® PLUS is ColBar's next generation dental membrane. It is a resorbable porcine-sourced collagen dental membrane for Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) and Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR), which is manufactured using ColBar's proprietary GLYMATRIX™ technology. This cross-linking technology utilizes a sugar-based agent, much like the human body, as opposed to chemicals (glutaraldehyde) or physical techniques (UV or gamma radiation). The non-enzymatic glycation process represents a breakthrough technology in GBR membrane cross-linking because of its ability to control biodurability (resistance to degradation).

OSSIX^® PLUS membrane is derived from porcine collagen which has been successfully used in a variety of medical and dental applications for many years due to its high degree of biocompatibility. Moreover, Porcine tissue is viewed as the material of choice in many medical xenograft procedures - e.g., heart valve transplantations. In the literature it has been demonstrated that the immunogenicity of porcine collagen is very low, lower than seen with bovine collagen. Porcine collagen also avoids many of the issues related to Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE).

The unique GLYMATRIX™ cross linking technology provides the membrane with its ability to maintain barrier functionality for 4-6 months, allowing sufficient time for osseous defects to achieve optimal bone regeneration. Yet, the membrane maintains its porosity to permit the passage of fluids and nutrients related to soft tissue health.
